Microsoft Server 2008 64-Bit VM!

So using GigeNET's awesome system I decided to setup a Windows VM to test out, I wasn't expecting much but since the Server 2003 and 2008 licenses were free and I was only paying by the hour it didn't really matter.

So I built the smallest VM I can (384MB of RAM and 15GB Disk Space) and wasn't expecting it to run at all with such little RAM but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it not only ran, but ran very well! While using Remote Desktop I couldn't tell the difference between that server and my home server with 2GB of RAM.

After playing around with the settings I decided to install IIS which installed without a problem. I then worked on installing SQL Server Express but found out I had run out of disk space (only 1.9GB free and SQL Server Express required over 2GB). I expanded my VM to 512MB of RAM and 20GB of disk space and rebooted.

Still working very nicely with barely any paging usage and over 100MB of RAM free I got SQL Server Express installed and am now messing around with DotNetPanel's new open source version WebsitePanel. Will update more as I learn and play. :)
